{summer} from years gone by

Yesterday was the second sunny day this week- yes, you heard me correctly – SUN TWICE IN A WEEK. That is what it takes to make me giddy these days- two days in a row of sun. Seriously? We were outside all day long celebrating #4′s last day of kindergarten with a picnic on the farm with his class. The weather was perfect- mostly sunny and it probably didn’t get above 75 degrees. The kids had a wonderful time playing in the sandbox and with sidewalk chalk while the moms visited and soaked up the sun. Before we knew it four hours had passed and it was time to go. I came indoors and while I was cleaning up I realized how much I enjoy those long lazy days of summer- happy relaxed children playing outside, the table covered with snacks and the cooler filled with drinks and popsicles. I began thinking of summers that have passed and went looking for photos of the boys when they were younger. I was amazed at how young #4 looks in so many of the photos I came across and I began to really see that my new first grader is growing up- too quickly for my liking…

So I wanted to share some photos of summertime and the things we love about it. Enjoy!

Gorgeous images as always…I am getting a little excited as my hazel eyed girl is heading home from her break… 2000 kilometres still before she is home but I so need to enjoy every single minute of the next 6 months…. We are on winter break now for 2 weeks…. Andrew only has 3 semesters left of school which just breaks my heart…He is 6 ft 2 and only 15 and sweet as a button :) ….I am not at all biased when it comes to my kids…Enjoy your sunny days with that beautiful bunch of boys :) xo

So glad to hear the sun made its appearance for the celebration! Your cheery and lovely photos lead one to believe it is sunny all summer long there…being from the NW I know better :) just makes one appreciate it all the more. Enjoy!

I don’t know how you survive with such little sun. Happy you have been blessed the last few days. Those are prefect summer photos!

  4. Lovely photos. I am glad you had some sunshine! Don’t be sad about leaving a fav teacher….just when I thought my kids couldn’t get any better….I mean perfection….the next year was better….not even equal…..better!

Ok, so my husband and I are both public school teachers, and have been for a very long time. We live in the small town where my husband teaches. he is a very loved teacher…I mean celeb status….one of only 2 males teaching in his elementary school. I love seeing the kids reactions to him when we are out, and I love when people who I run into tell me their kids had him for a teacher 15 years ago and that’s why they have decided to become teachers. That warms my heart!

I work in a bit larger district…where hubs and I grew up. Still considered small town….hopefully I have touched a few.

As a teacher, I always try to send special notes to the principal complimenting the teacher’s work with our children. A little goes a long way in this profession. Sorry, I am rambling…happy Saturay.

Mr. Archuleta is the only male teacher in our elementary school and with four boys, it is such a blessing to get him for a year. He is an absolute gem- so much so that we love having him over for an afternoon to hang out making pottery with Mr. Taylor. It has been an amazing year~
