I made crackers this weekend. I admit, it was a whim – something I had seen and hadn’t tried. They also really said “simplifying the basics” to me – not to mention the fact that a.) I am a total snacker and; b.) I can add whatever I want to them! Thus, I thought I would give it a try~
I had seen this post on one of my new favorite inspiring cooking blogs – I Made That I do believe that this fabulously inspiring girlie lives here in Seattle, which excites me to no end. She also makes the things she creates seem uncomplicated and totally do-able. I love that. Especially when it comes to something that I have never done. Like crackers. So, I tried them – I added various seeds to mine because I REALLY like seeds on things. And they were GREAT! I made the dough from the recipe but only used about 1/3 of it, and then froze the rest. I will be using the rest this week as the crackers I made are long gone and I have a hankerin’ for some more.
A couple of thoughts on the recipe~
*I found the dough really delicate and slightly difficult to work with. I never rolled it down to the “5″ setting on my pasta roller and it was still so fragile. That being said, they crackers turned out beautifully and incredibly delicious.
*When I roll things through my pasta roller the widest that they get is about 3 1/2 inches. Thus, I wasn’t able to make perfectly rectangular crackers as the original post had. We are going to simply call mine “rustic”… you with me?
Please see the link above for the recipe if you want to try them yourself!
Have a great week mes amies,
xx

Oh dear! Rolling pasta maker?? Since I have started taking cooking lessons at Williams Sonoma, I seem to feel the need for cooking gadgets! Lately a mandoline, instant-read thermometer, and madeleine cake mold have all found spots in my kitchen.
