For a while now I have been wanting to rename the farm. Before you ask me why I would say “I” have been wanting, know that the boys/men of this house could really care less what the farm is named (or what the airstream is named, or what my camera is named, etc… etc…).
I had shared with you my thoughts on Blackberry Farm after a particularly poke-filled blackberry cane cutting session. And, after a few weeks of pondering the name, I think that it fits, and I like it. And, none of the boys are completely against it. But, with there being quite a number of Blackberry Farms out there, I wanted something that would set it apart a bit – thus the “on the hill” added to the name. You see, we actually do live on a hill – a really nice hill, filled with horse pastures and pretty little farms, views of either the Olympic Mountains (like us) or the Cascade range, depending on which side you live on. We also have a peek-a-boo view of Seattle which is nice, and a great view of multiple firework displays on the Fourth of July. So, we like our little hill rather a lot and as we are a little farm on a hill, Blackberry Farm on the hill fits just fine indeed.
My dreams for Blackberry Farm this year include a few new animals, some serious growth of the vegetable gardens, as well as planting a LOT of flower seeds that I harvested last year. If we are talking *serious* dreams – I would LOVE to add doors off of the kitchen to a patio where our gorgeous table from our incredibly sweet friends would live, along with the BBQ. Daddy? Handsome husband? Are you listening…???
What is on your dream list this spring? What plans do you have for your home? The planning is often one of my favorite parts of the process!
I hope you had a wonderful weekend mes amies – we certainly did!
xx

So lovely! We to live on a hill, a used to be apple farm, now I would have to call it Windy Sagebrush Farm, because we are surrounded by sage brush and the wind blows so much!
You have inspired me to work a little more on our acres; it should be put to use. I am thinking grapes!
Bravo for you Kim ~ although I was kicking and screaming away from a name change ~ I really like what you chose. That along with the photos in this post ~ cosmos ~ my fav but you know that already. I think you need a couple of kids ~ goats that is ~ handsome hubby will surely agree with 2 ~ won’t he?? xo
LOVE! blackberry farm on the hill. it’s lovely. If you find a fabulous place for ordering your vegetable seeds please share. That top photo is so beautiful! I had a lovely, lovely time with you this weekend! xoxo
I love the new name…perfect! My dream for the spring is to finally plant a garden. This Colorado clay is nothing like my beautiful Illinois soil..that is why I have been putting it off. It will require Kelly building me a raised garden bed. I grew up with a HUGE garden. We would be very happy here with a salad and herb garden. Baby steps in the land of clay:-)
Oh, I LOVE that name, Kim!!
My “boys” have done most of the naming around here . . . while it seemed odd at first, I’ve grown quite fond of the process. Our home is “Stately” (on State Street), named by Jim; my mini-van is “Erik” (for Erik the Red, since it is red), named by Daniel (step-son); our big, old Dodge van is “Moby” (white whale), aptly named by Jim; our trailer is “Pequod” (Ahab’s boat that chases “Moby” in Moby Dick . . . why didn’t I think of that?!), also named by Jim. They name their knives, motorcycles, etc. It’s great fun!!
May “Blackberry Farm on the Hill” enjoy many blessings!

Blackberry Farm on the Hill sounds like a truly delightful place!
I love the name (and blackberries too). This year for our home I am looking forward to redoing our powder room, putting in potager gardens (filled with herbs and good veggies) and some interior decorating (hey I started with some pillows for my bed today).
I can’t wait to see what you have in store for the farm.

I, too, enjoy the dreaming and planning. I’m hoping to expand my veggie garden this spring and will hopefully add a potting shed – my own little backyard sanctuary! I’d also love an arbor over my rustic seating area – a place for wisteria to climb. I’m determined to put in a clothesline as I’ve missed having one. Nothing smells quite like sheets hung out on the line to dry.
Cute name…I liked when you wrote ‘little farm on a hill’ too. That would also work…or blackberry farm on a hill rather than ‘the’ hill. Do you think your blog will become blackberry farm? or is it staying mimi charmante? I adore your farm life. You are blessed.
Blackberry Farm {on the hill}. Perfectly suited.
The laundry line whispers sweet nothings of spring… oh please let it be true soon!

your farm sounds lovely.
we used to live in the pacific northwest. i can just envision the beauty of the cascades and the olympic mountains. what a lucky girl you are.
i love the name.
I ADORE that name for your little place of heaven on earth!
I will be planting some sweet poppy seeds from Blackberry Farm on the Hill, and adding several raised beds in my front gardens… I’ll be adding veggies in the flower mix, and have an entire back yard to design. I too love the process of planning.. it’s never done, and that makes each year so exciting!
I love the planning process too with anything – projects, planning vacations, etc. This spring I hope to pull the carpet up from our bedroom and refinish the hardwood floors as that is the only room left in our house with carpet and plan a adventure to Italy or Spain or maybe both!! I love your farms new name!
xxoo
i love it!!
your images are a breath of fresh air! xo
A perfect name.
Well…I absolutely love this name! Reminds me of the thrill I found once on Blueberry Hill, ha! No seriously, it’s a perfect name, and your descriptions of the farm always leaves me yearning for the countryside. I want goats, chickens, and pigs!
At this very moment, I’m finessing the final details of what I hope to be a great start to a Spring garden.
just love your photo style!
very inviting and warm.
I would like to please have a farm that needs a name. My dream is to eventually live on a farm – love your blog and your life! And you have an airstream – even better! Jealous jealous jealous
