I want to first thank you for sticking with me through all of my enthusiasm and excitement on building what I know will be an incredible learning compound in Uganda. I am so grateful for those of you who have contributed to our campaign to put a well into our village. I know that if you have donated, you understand what it means to the people of our community to have safe drinking water. It means everything. There is still time to donate- we haven’t reached our goal and we are praying that with your help we can! https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/building-tusubira-village/x/8489556
Now, on to some fun and frivolity! Autumn is my favorite season- the air is crisp when we head out in the mornings, the leaves are beginning to change and fall, there is the smell of bonfires in the air and we look forward to the wonderful slow cooked food that we enjoy this time of year. There are a few things that I love making when the season begins to cool down- things that make the house smell delicious and draw people to the kitchen to see what is cooking~
We love these potatoes!
Chili is always a favorite- especially with a dollop of sour cream and some sweet corn bread!
I love making soup and this squash soup is delicious!
My friend Lissa got me hooked on this winter minestrone.
Pumpkin and spices are signatures of the season- and a loaf is a great way to showcase them!
And then of course there is my very favorite ginger cookies of all time!
As for this season’s wardrobe- I am looking forward to boots and sweaters and lots of warm scarves. I love living in a place where layers are the best way to keep warm~
I am starting to build a collection of scarves and this one is on my wish list- maybe because it is made by Faribault Woolen Mill and my grandparents lived right near Faribault, Minnesota when I was a child.
While I am always drawn to large bags, I have learned that I am constantly frustrated by how easily I lose everything in them. This year I am determined to downsize and simplify- thus- this sweet little cross-body. It has plenty of space and yet is small enough to see everything inside. Perfect!
And I would love 8 of these fabulous throws for cool autumn evenings on the patio sitting around a fire!
While wearing these shirts…
And these boots…
This autumn my plan is to simplify as much as possible. I want to spend more time at home, working on projects around the house as well as continuing to build The Grow Hope Foundation. I want to bake more, cook more and pare down our closets, cabinets and anything that we can donate to charity to be used by others who need it more than we do. I want to read more, finding books that enhance my knowledge of the world around me. I want to be inspired, and to inspire. This is a season of nesting and there is no place I’d rather be than home on our little farm with those I love~
Happy autumn friends!
